Information - CAN carried out safety inspections on the six towers of Glasgow University and removed items of immediate safety concern to ground level. The inspection highlighted several areas that required remedial action and acting on JACOBS instruction and supervision this was carried out.

The safety works comprised of bolting back panels which showed considerable movement, ranging from 10mm to 40mm, with 16mm stainless steel bolts into HILTI HY resin. Panels were secured with two bolts except where there was movement of 40 mm which was secured with four bolts per panel.

In addition broken off areas of concrete were sealed with epoxy mortar, RENDEROC from Fosroc and exposed steel was coated in Corroless rust stabilising paint.
