Information - Acoustic monitors were fitted to the main cables for the purpose of detecting corrosion deterioration in the cable strands. CAN assisted Freyssinet UK Ltd in fitting the equipment at intervals along the cables at clamp locations and subsequently in commissioning the system.

Additional work was carried out in the cable anchorage chambers where confined space procedures were adopted due to the possible presence of methane from underground migration.
