Location - Guardbridge Inspection and Repointing, Near St Andrews

Information - The Old Bridge in Guardbridge is a historic listed sandstone bridge near St Andrews, CAN undertook an inspection of the structure using rope access techniques. Following this, using personnel with appropriate training repairs were conducted in a traditional manner so as to restore the bridge and reduce any further damage.
Appropriately coloured lime mortar was used to produce a sympathetic finish whilst not causing deterioration of the stone. CAN personnel are trained in masonry repairs at the Charlestown Workshops of the Scottish Lime Centre and the methods used on site comply with Historic Scotland technical advice notes.Rope access methods used for this type of structure are non-destructive we endeavour to protect both the bridge and the local environment when working on a structure.
